[Boatanchors] HW-101 VFO problem

Sounds like the finals are "taking off". Have you
neutralized them? Are they 6146B or 6146W types? If
so, you probably should change them to either 6146 or
6146A. If one happens to be a 6146B or 6146W and the
other a 6146 or 6146A then you will really have
problems.
For the article on the 6146 family of tubes that was
in Electric Radio a while back, and has been reprinted
in several other publications since, go to either of
the websites that are listed at the end of this
message.
Also, tighten ALL of the machine screws on EVERY
board, through the chassis, etc. Over the years these
work loose or become corroded and all of the grounds
in the unit are made through these. By tightening all
of the hardware you get the grounds working again.
