My answer to the inventory problem is an excellent bit of 
freeware/shareware called "My Stuff."  It is adaptable to any household 
inventory problem.  One of the attractive features is the ability to 
include photos of your gear along with original price, comments, 
depreciation, etc.  This makes it possible for the surviving spouse to 
identify which of those metal boxes is which, and how much you thought 
it was worth before you kicked the bucket. You can download a copy of
