I have never done an SP-600, but I have filled in engraved panels, HRO dials, 
etc. by using plain semi-gloss interior latex paint.  I just dab some on with a 
small brush and then wipe it off with a slightly damp rag.  For deep grooves, 
such as on the HRO dials, I've found it best to let it dry a few hours and add 
some more paint.  This method is very forgiving, because it is easy to wipe off 
extra paint (at least on smooth surfaces, like an SP-600 panel).
