Hi Joe,

This CRO is perfectly adequate for audio work and IFs on broadcast receivers.
It can also be used for two-tone testing of SSB transmitters.

I have found that the resistors in the dc chain, which includes the focus control, go
wildly out of spec. Check and replace and you'll have a fine 'scope. The wiring was
of the high reliability type, ie, 6 turns around the terminal, crimp and then solder.
Don't try to unsolder - just use 'twiddlies' as was discussed on this - or was it
another - list a coupla months ago.

There are notes in the manual for straightening the trace.

  Joe wondered:

Lets see if anyone knows a
problem,or two, these models have in common.. The problems I have in the
8/U appears to be in the Power Supply as the scope tube will Not focus
properly and the wave form has a hicky in it.
