John, You need the worlds greatest pat on the back.
I feel some of the old goats should have to attend an upgrade class in
manners and getting up to speed with the new technology.
CW takes up close to half of the approved amateur spectrum, granted it
had its place but the digital capability blows it away by a massive
amount. With the error checking and high speed capability it blows 40+/-
WPM CW out the window.
Why is it that all of the Government entities did away with CW and in
most cases have done away with RTTY.
In about a one minute burst of digital transmission of today's
technology you could send the test of the complete Constitution of the
United States of America with no errors and using spread spectrum with
frequency hopping if it was restricted to the amateur bands and if say
1000 stations did it at the same time all you might hear would be a
digital signal if you happened to have the correct code/password which
could be a public key. No QRM, QRN, QSB and no notch, 200, 500 Kc XTALS.
So when CW is bad try PSK, PACTOR or something up to date.
And do not forget there are a lot of other more modern modes like, Slow
scan, LSB, USB, ISB, FM, EME.
And above all try to be a good operator and nice to all. Save your foul
mouth for off air QSO's
I am now donning my NOMEX firesuit and going to bed.
