The Novice Class and Advanced Class are
"grandfathered" in the respect that they can be
renewed but no new licenses are being issued.

Right now the "Novice" (also Technician Class who have
passed their Element 1) band segments are still in
effect.

They no longer have the "N" (or back in the late 1950s
"V") assigned to their calls.

Is there even such a thing as a "Novice" class licence
in the U.S. anymore...? I thought the FCC did away
with it.

If I'm wrong then, do the U.S. Novices still have cw
sub-bands on 80- 40-15- and 10-meters...? Do they have
anything approaching a unique prefix?
