Hi Bill,
The iron slug in your HT-32A might be cracked already, and that's why it won't turn anymore. That's what happened with me last year on an IF coil in my HQ-145. Luckily, someone happened to have a spare coil and kindly sent it to me. I've heard of people repairing them with some success, but you're probably better off replacing it if you can find another one.
Good luck & 73,
Don W2DAS

Subject: [Boatanchors] HELP! The coil slug is stuck!
I'd really appreciate any experience-based (preferably successful, :>) suggestions as to how to "unstick" a iron slug that is inside one of the rf alignment slug-tuned coils of my Hallicrafters HT-32A transmitter. During alignment, I was able to initially move it a half turn or so and then it froze up. I'm afraid that if I force it, the slug will crack. What do ya use to "lubricate" the slug exterior (or its cardboard tube) that won't swell it or turn it to mush? Tnx, Bill, wd0x
