That was the rig I went on the air with in Feb 1957. My Elmer, hardly knew 
the man, popped in and out of my life like a fly, brought an old radio 
chassis and a handfull of parts over, along with the magazine and said 
"build it". The power supply was already on the chassis, had been robbed of 
IF cans and some other parts. Any way I put it together and ran it for a 
year. Had a big old crystai in the novice band with a hole drilled in it and 
a nut soldered to it. You know the rest. Crystal controled VFO.
Great rig, can be a bit rough on surplus FT-243's.
