You will notice I said a 3 wire cord set PROPERLY INSTALLED. Theoritically 
the set would also be safe with a PROPERLY INSTALLED two wire polarized cord 
set. As you correctly pointed out the only really safe way to operate an AC/DC 
sei is by using an isolation transformer.  If one looks around, it is possible 
to find one small enough to be installed inside many cabinets, using existing 
hardware for mounting. A totally reversable modification if the set needs to 
revert to OEM specifications but a life saver meanwhile.
