I hesitate to question the statement by George with his Extra Class Call.
But I would not want some newbie to get the wrong idea.
Diodes are banded on the CATHODE end.
At least , all the diodes I have ever used were. This usually results in
the POSITIVE node of power suppplies, in the usual configuration in
full-wave or bridge circuits.
