Ah yes, Henry Radio that wonderful place on Olympic Blvd. in Los Angeles.
Gone a long time now, but never forgotten. Teds home was burned to the ground by
the Brentwood fire in (I think) 1962. A bunch of us hams tried to save it by
throwing water from the pool on to the roof, but when the fire started up
the hill the fire department forced us all to leave. The home was rebuilt and
Teds son lives there now.

Some people said we were only up there during the fire to save the 70cm
repeater, but it wasn't true at all. We all loved Ted. He was always honest and
fair. We felt bad that we couldn't save his home. But Ted said he'd rather the
house burned than have any of us risk our lives for it. A real unforgettable
character.

Sorry for the lengthy tribute, the original message brought back a flood of
memories. At least they are sort of radio related. I bought my first SX-28
from Ted Henry. (In 1955)
