The 8643 was used in the 60, 90, and 110 watt output
Motorola highband LHT and MHT series Motrac mobiles
and in the "Compa" LHT and MHT base stations. The HHT
series Motrac mobiles in the 60 and 80 watt versions
used the 5894 as did the 100 watt output HHT and LHT
lowband Motrac mobiles.

The 8643 is a very good HF and VHF tube. The pin
diameter on the plate connections is a "fair" amount
larger than on the other tubes of the series.

Although there are others in the series the 8643 is
pretty much the "top" in the line of dual tetrodes
that started with the 832. They all have the same
base diagram and use the same tube socket.

These go 832, 6907, 829, 5894, and finally the 8643.
Of course there are "A" and "B" versions of most of
these tubes.

In my business, 8643 used as final amp in highband
highpower VHF mobile units, Motorola and others. It
is a beefed up 5894A, has larger anode pins however.
