Well, I have a slightly different view of that "world". 99 percent of
the radio gear in the "shack" and SWL listening post is
Glow in the dark stuff, because I'm sure that it works better (different
discussion). BUT, when it come to the test gear,
I want the best, latest, most up to date stuff I can afford. Right now,
the Tek 2445 and 2465 series scopes are as cheap as
you're going to find them, working. The difference in price between them
and older B&K., Sencore, Leader or even Heath gear isn't enough
to talk about, but the capabilities and reliability are world apart.
The last thing I want to do when I'm trying to fix something is sit there
(and I've done this) and try to figure out whether my test gear is working,
or if I actually have a problem in the set I'm working on.
On my bench, HP and TEK rule. I guess I'm just lazy, or I just want to use
my gear rather than fix the test equipment just so I can fix the
receiver. Yeah, Okay, I'll go crawl back under my KWM-2A.
Thanks!!
