Dear Keith:
I will do what I can to share with you whatever knowledge I have retained
re Loran C systems, from US Navy ET School training in 1953, 51 years ago !
Loran C is a nav system , that utilizes a technique of measuring the time
difference in the reception of 2 radio signals , one from a master
transmitter, and another from a slave transmitter that transmits a finite
known time after the master transmitter. The locus of a constant time
difference results in a series of hyperbolic curves , when plotted on a
chart . Measuring the time difference from another transmitter pair, and
finding the intersect point of those 2 curves, results in an accurate LAT /
LONG position. Atmospheric conditions caused significant errors frequently.
I believe , for that reason and others, that this system has not been in
use for many years, superceded first by Loran A , and more recently by GPS
satellites .
Perhaps others on this list , with more definitive knowledge may chip in
with corrections or additions. Remember , this is from 51 years ago and I
have done my best.

It is a Furuno LC-80.
