[Boatanchors] Solder

This is a bit more than a rumor. There are new types of solder on the
market that have reduced lead and some with no lead at all.
California has already, I think, stated that fumes from it causes cancer and
minute particles of lead may cause lead poisoning. A few years back there
was some sort of environmental convention in Canada in which many nations
participated that included a break out group on banning lead.
I have been stocking up for the eventuality that the price is going to
increase dramatically in coming years. One thing that might happen is that
it may be like Freon 12. It was banned years ago but one can still buy it
in places if you know where to look.
But if industry switches, solder will be like tubes, but I would bet it
would never come back.
