I posted the following to the Mil-Surplus list but didn't get an answer to
the question.  Maybe here?

"quite" to Zero at the low end of the tuning range, almost but not quite.
Along with this, most of the bands appear to be off by roughly the same
amount (physically, not actual frequency).  Now, I know that alignment and
calibration can probably bring the frequencies in place on the dial, except
that by not going to zero there will always be an error at the bottom end.

Is there a fairly simple way to reposition that dial without total
disassembly of the gear mechanism?  I don't fancy doing a total teardown of
the gear mechanism.<
