Greg,
Get a 'step' drill from your local hardware store. Typically you can get
them in sizes from 3/16" to 3/4" or 7/8 " in 1/16" steps. They do a neater
job than a punch and are a lot less work.
Harbor Freight has them at reasonable, although not great prices:

Hope this helps.

Subject: [Boatanchors] Chassis punches - Conduit punches - tube sockets
Hi:
Can anyone recommend a source of punches to do octal, 9 and 7 pin miniature
tube sockets.
I know Greenlee has them but I really can't afford those.
Will a "Conduit Punch" do the same thing as long as the hole sizes are
correct?
The material I will be punching is typical chassis aluminum that we use in
our home brew stuff. Not steel.
Thanks
Greg
