[Boatanchors] Johnson Viking Ranger

Hi:

Got a question on the original Johnson Viking Ranger.  Not the Ranger II
Is there more than one version of this Ranger?
just now completing a refurbishment on one and am about to place it back =
in service.
This is my third Ranger project and I noticed that this particular one =
does not have the small, two tube sub-assembly bolted behind the front =
panel in front of the rectifiers.
Any input will be appreciated
