Hi Norm, Jack & Gang,

Not long after WW2 I was on a voyage to Brazil. The International
calling an distress frequency 500 kcs was roaring with noise - in the
summertime south of the equator....
I tuned in NSS down on 16 kcs. The frequency was quiet as a mouse!
NSS was pounding in! They sent info for maritime interests, wx and
notices to mariners concerning hazards to navigation, etc....
