I have used "lacquer sticks" for decades on all sorts
of painted finishes and have never had any problems.
The problem with actual "lacquer" type paint comes
from the medium used to "thin" the paint. Lacquer
sticks are a solid much like a wax crayon. They are
sold for the very purpose of filling in engraved
lettering.

Is it wise to do this if the paint is enamel? Normally
the combination results in discoloration and other
disfigurations over time.
