[Boatanchors] Re: Speech synthesized meter economics

Having a brother and a daughter who are left handed, and being ambidextrous
myself, I can appreciate the simple things left handed people suffer from.
Simple things, like a pair of scissors.

But the real problem is not this simple. They seldom are.

If a company were to make a talking VOM or Multi-Meter with voice activation, it
would sell to the entire electronics market, and then the blind would be an
accidental benefactor. As would anyone with the use of only one hand. Many times
a technician needs three hands, or a third eye on a flexible stem, to see the
meter while he is working. Voice activation would solve the problem.

If I had a working prototype in my possession, I could get it manufactured and
marketed, but I do not. Nor can I build it being totally blind either. It comes
down to somebody with some insight toward the future, rather than the instant
cash reward, to make it happen. In my opinion, there is way too much focus on
instant gratification, not vision of the future. It is all now, today, this year
and not two or five or ten years down the corporate path. Which is precisely why
so many businesses are going down the toilet, or to China, is there a
difference?

As a left-handed guitarist, I'll second this.
