On a first look inside the NC-127D, the receiver does appear to be a mod
of a standard product. Directly behind the front panel is a 3 section
variable capacitor with a 6K7 (RF amp), 6L7 (mixer) and 6J5 (osc)
positioned by their respective sections. However, the capacitor shaft
extends into an add-on shielded box where there is apparently another
capacitor section with another 6K7 RF amplifier. Everything is covered
with yellow-green antifungal agent and very well preserved.
I can email pictures to anyone interested.
