Please join us on Saturday June 5th for the HCI 40 meter Net. The pre-Net will
commence at 12:30 PM EDT, (1630 UTC). The Net proper will begin at 1:00 PM EDT,
(1700 UTC). The frequency will be 7.280 MHz lsb +/- for key clicks, mike
splatter and some fond farewell Croaks from Frogzilla himself.
Had it not been for the back up relay by W5JT, Jim Thayer, over the past several
months of this absolutely awful propagation with almost no stations being heard
closer than 400 miles of my QTH, I would have shut the Net down already. One
Saturday the band was so long that KW4HF in NC served as the relay station!
I will show up on Saturday at the appointed time to hold the frequency, as time
and health permit, and I would appreciate it if some of you would do likewise,
so that when the band settles down to make a Net practical, somebody, maybe I,
maybe not, can pick up the HCI Net and it will be business as usual. If we do
'NOT' hold the frequency, it may well be inhabited when we want to start the Net
back up again! Some of you can show up from 1:00-2:00 PM EDT and tube chew to
keep it nailed down. Feel free to use the HCI slogan to ID, you have my
permission to do so.
Thanks to one and all for all of your participation, support and contributions
over the past six years. It has been invaluable. You are the greatest bunch of
Hams to work with that anyone could ever hope to be involved with. I am not
going to disappear, I will be around to chat with my myriad of vintage gear
compatriots, hopefully. The Net will resume, we will simply have to wait and see
when the band makes it feasible.
I hope to hear many of you tomorrow.
