I have used both for many years. Open wire feeders, and a dipole with
a good tuner are still one of the best antennas going, if you figure
in ease of construction, simplicity, and the ability to work all
bands effectively. I was just commenting on my experience with the
Windom. I think the G5RV is an excellent antenna also. For that
matter, there are others we haven't mentioned. I had a friend that
had a windom on a 40 foot boat. The wire was strung all over the
deck, and around corners, but he had a hell of a signal all the time.
Of course, being on salt water didn't hurt either!
