Hi Guys...
I don't want to get into the antenna myth wars, but with that said, I have
to report I have a 160M Carolina Windom, which I have used against 80M & 40M
dipoles and have had surprisingly good results on all bands, 100Wto legal
limit. Installation here is is a slight inverted-V, apex about 60', ends
approx. 40'. At this QTH the Carolina Windom prefers a tuner (altho it is
generally 2:1 or 3:1 on all the amateur bands), and has been a really good
performer. Why is it good? Don't know. How does it compare/lab measurements?
Can't tell ya, but it has been a great antenna, and is the first and only
commercial wire antenna I've ever bought. Would I stop building my own wire
antennas? No. Would I tear this one down? No.
FWIW, that's the story here.
Happy new year & 73
Dan
