I'm working on a 1-KW AM transmitter homebrewed by Bill Tucker, W6MSC.
I think we have located 99% of the parts. But we are still missing
the larger vacuum tubes.
I have a website with pictures of this thing. Follow the link
from the bottom of the page at www.yipyap.com
I'm now working on getting all of the interconnections mapped out.
After that, I think I will tackle the power and control decks
and try to get power to the exciter deck (which still has it's tubes)
and then on to the modulator and PA.
Here is a list of tubes I am needing. I have some other parts
and pieces, large roller inductors, some vacuum variable caps
and other parts to trade if possible.
2 x 250TH
4 x 813
4 X 866 rectifier
2 x 872 rectifier
It looks like Bill had replaced the 872s with an array
of diodes. But I'm thinking I would like to have the 872s
on hand to try it that way too.
Also, if anyone out there remembers working Bill, I'd love
to hear from you.
And if there are any AM folks who would like regular updates
on my progress (and maybe be in my list of go-to-mentors as
I figure this out) please let me know.
At the same time this came my way I also picked up the Black Box
transmitter that I previously posted pictures of here on this
list. The most recent guess on that one is that it may be a
VHF transmitter for an early incarnation of the aeronautical VOR system.
There's a link to a page with pictures on the www.yipyap.com site.
If anyone out there would just love to tackle that Black Box, please
let me know!
