[Boatanchors] BC-1004 slipping dial

Hi,
I've searched the Hammarlund Archives and found references to dial
slippage, but nothing "fixed" it (cleaning etc). The BC-1004 that I'm
working on (Basically a Hammarlund SP-200 series receiver) has a bad
case of the "Hammy Slippage" on the bandspread dial, requiring much
spinning of the bandspread tuning to "eventually" tune across the spread
of the dial.
Things checked:
1. Plastic Dial and the split washers were cleaned of any grease, dirt
etc.
2. Tuning capacitor turns freely, doesn't seem to be binding.
3. Dial is Warped some, but meshes with the split washer ok.
4. Slot in the split washer seems to be wider than the main tuning
(which works stiffly), but I can't figure any way to "tighten" the split
in the washer. Working quarters is quite cramped between front of the
chassis and the coil compartment.
All ideas appreciated.
