[Boatanchors] Need help identifying a boatanchor

Chris,  

What you describe sounds very much like a Navy GO-9 transmitter. The  exciter 
and RF section were on the right as viewed from the front. Output tube  was 
an 803 as I recall, about 150W input. Middle section was the modulator and  
left section was the power supply. The modulator was a pair of 811's.
 
In the late 50's I had a friend who had a GO-9 and a Collins 75A1. He was  
kind enough to let me get in lots of operating time at his station when I first  
got my General. I got to know the GO-9 very well. It had one of the most  
elaborate antenna matching networks I've ever seen, and would load anything from  
a paper clip to a flagpole. The VFO was rock stable and the audio was  
excellent.
 
If that's what you have inherited, you are a lucky man. I've looked for one  
for years without success. Well actually I found a couple, but couldn't afford 
 them. :-)
