It looks like I will be inheriting a large boatanchor from
an ex-ham who is moving.
Last night we moved a number of items into some intermediate storage
while I clear a space for them at home.
One of the things appeared to be a transmitter. I have some
physical description but no electrical description yet.
This thing was about the size of a BC-610, but didn't look
like what I've seen before. It was black, wrinkle finish
and felt like it weighed about 400 lbs, about 3.5 feet tall,
maybe 30 inches wide and 15 inches deep.
The front of this thing
was divided into three vertical columns. On the
left and right were doors that opened up, giving access
to what appeared to be the underside of tube sockets, etc.
These doors were full-height vertical. About the
center 1/2 of the cabinet, full-height vertical again,
was a collection of meters and knobs. I don't remember
all of the labels, but there were things that seemed to
indicate it was a transmitter. There was also a connection
for a microphone.
The whole back panel was a door. Inside of this one we could
see a few tubes mounted horizontal with tops toward the back.
And there were a couple of large transformers along the sides
toward the bottom.
There was one place on the front face where it looked like
there might have been a military-style nameplate but it had
been removed. Otherwise, in my quick look-over I didn't see
any manufacturer or model number information.
I don't remember seeing any large tubes. The big transformers
and the front control labels were what had me thinking it
was a transmitter. Maybe it's something else.
I have done some web searching, but still the closest thing
I can find pictures of seems to be a bc-610, but the front layout
isn't right.
