I used an SR-150 for quite a while. Sold it some time ago.
It was even usable on PSK31, although if ANY mode reveals
drift, it will be PSK31!!! I always thought my SR-150 was pretty
stable once warmed up on SSB or CW, but the frequency
tolerances of PSK31 are (short term stability) "bug" the
SR-150. Ditto on the SR-400 as well.
I have never tried PSK31 on the Drake "4 line" I have at
present. Use the old ICOM 735 rice box on that mode.

Subject: GB> Stability
| After reading the mail on all the good inputs on what you guys feel is
| the best boatanchor receiver, I get the impression that Hallicrafters
| (and maybe some Hammarlund ) rigs are less stable than others.
|
| I have had three Hallicrafters rigs. S-85, s-40b, and SR-150. The only
| one that I thought was a little drifty was the SR-150. Probably because
| I did not try to use the s-85 and s-40b on rtty.
|
| I did use the SR-150 on rtty and often found the need to tweak the
| dial. Still, it did work at 170 shift and there were not many
| complaints from receiving stations regarding drift. However, I have not
| had any complaints from anyone concerning drift when I used the same
| mode with other equipment (Drake C-line, and Omni-C).
|
| So, is it just me or are some of the lower end Hallicrafters rigs
| driftier than other rigs?
|
