[Boatanchors] Does anyone remember the Hunter transmitters?

You are probably talking about the Hunter Cyclemaster
20A that came out in about 1948. However, it
originally did not have the 6146 tubes which came out
in about 1954. I don't know if production changed to
the 6146 types or if the unit may have been modified
at a later date. It could have had a pair of 2E26
tubes which would allow for use of the 6146 without
any circuit changes since the tube bases are
identical.
I have never used one, but I remember one sitting at
Radio Distributing Company in South Bend, Indiana,
when I was first licensed (1959) along with a National
NC-2-40DT that I "lusted over" for several years!

design, with a large knob in the center of the front
for VFO, CW only, two 6146s, internal power supply,
and a lid which hinged up. It was gray wrinkle
finished. I believe there was a 3 position switch with
a black knob, for standby, spot and transmit.
