The KT-340 (HA-230) wasn't a bad short wave receiver and amateur band
receiver. Xtal calibrators are easy to build if you need one that bad.
Oscillator and Converter stages have "always on filaments" as long as the
receiver is plugged into an AC sourse. I not sure that additional HF
Oscillator regulation is necessary. The Q-multipler takes some time
getting used to. It works quite well. The KT340 wasn't designed as a SSB
receiver.
