[Boatanchors] PARTS, a word to the wise!

Ron: Just because it on the Internet does not make it a discounter. Many
times, even discounters have higher internet prices! The Arizona folks are,
to me, more of a one stop shop rather than a discounter. If you are looking
for cheap caps, I suggest justradios.com or Digikey. Even Jameco. From one
of these, I recently purchased some 1A 1000 volt rectifiers for less than
$.05 each (10 min) whereas the local parts house wants $.79 each for the NTE
equivilent (I live a few blocks from NTE HQ, and their parent co. has a
retail outlet). You have to shop around--as you found out! BTW, I have no
financial interest in any of the companies I mentioned.--Mike, WV2ZOW

Now I'm not here to insult anyone. This is for your information, only!
 I'm restoring a 75A4 (it came a proverbial dog!) I ordered parts
(capacitors mainly) from an un-named well-known supplier from Arizona.
Got a pretty good deal on a bunch of .1mfd 400v mylars to replace the
infamous "black beauties" in the 'A4. I put them in., they worked
fine. There would have been no problem, but I found I had shorted
myself a couple. So off to the local electronics store I went. When I
got back I was in shock! My local supplier charged me $ .87 for the
same value. (I paid Arizona $1.37 plus shipping) Not only that but
Arizona must have been old stock 'cause they were 3 times the size of
the local ! So, I've learned just cause you order from an Internet
discount house........doesn't mean your getting a discount. Just be
carefull. I bought 10 of these things at a difference of
$5.00.....Hey, thats a Bigmac, fries and soda with a little left over!
Sure like the 'A4 though..............!!! 73, Ron
