[Boatanchors] Parasitic oscillations in Ranger on 10M?

Hi.
This morning I thought I'd put my Ranger (original) and Hammarlund HQ-110 up
on 10 Meters and do some "AM". At first I thought I had a receiver problem
as the entire listening bench was "microphonic" in the receiver. I finally
discovered that it was coming from the Ranger, even when it was in Stby. It
was/is creating some very strong parasitic oscillations in the 10M band even
when in Stby. These were "tweakable" (but not eliminated) with the buffer
tuning control but not affected with the final tuning/loading.When in the
Phone position I can tune/load the rig normally.
What a disappointment I had hoped to work some 10M AM since the band is
open.
Any thoughts on what I should look for in the Ranger when I "open her up"?
It doesn't appear that the buffer and output stages have any form of
neutralization adjustments or anything.
