Speaking of "odd" Q signals, the fellow who gave me my
Novice exam back in February of 1959 (K9BPV, ex-W2ZSK)
had been a Navy radioman in the mid-1950s. His
favorite "Q" Signal was QBE. He used this instead of
QRT whenever he ceased operation.

QBE means "I am now reeling in my antenna" and was
used by aircraft that had a trailing wire antenna that
had to be reeled in before the aircraft could land.
It was used by Navy radio operators operating from
aircraft instead of QRT. Thus, K9BPV used it instead
of QRT.

It appears they use some maritime "lingo" in their QSO <grin>.
