[Boatanchors] Ceramic Sockets

The ceramic socket is very "hard" in relation to the
metal brush. What happened is that particles from the
metal brush were removed and have become implanted in
the ceramic material. This definitely needs to be
removed and not "painted over". Although it is not
continuous and therefore not conductive right now, it
certainly can cause problems in the future.
You can remove it with sulphuric acid, maybe
hydrochloric acid. However, both of those are not
safe to handle unless you know what you are doing.
Also they are not that readily available.
You might try soaking the sockets in vinegar overnight
and see if the acetic acid in that might remove the
metal from the ceramic. Also lemon juice might work.

I used a brass brush on a moto tool.
It came off OK, but I found that the surface is now a
shiny metal color!
Why shiny metal instead of buffed white? Should I
just leave it, or dab some white model airplane paint
over it?
