On a smooth panel, I've followed the lettering application with a light coat
or two of Krylon clear matte spray. That *really* made the edges of the
clear tape pretty much disappear. The P-touch works great, I've had one in
the shop for several years. Plus it's useful for all kinds of other little
things like labeling cable and coax ends, etc.
