I really think there is a better way. Get a Brother "P-Touch" or similar 
label maker. Use black on clear or white on clear tape. Select the letter 
size you want and then print the tag. Use a pair of scissors to trim the 
excess tape so that only the letters are outlined. It works great on smooth 
finishes. The tape is almost undetectable. I'm not sure how well it will 
work on wrinkle finishes.
