For anyone interested in radio during WW II I am passing this along for
whatever interest it may have.

You may have seen my mentions of my new book, WORDS AT WAR which came
out
about a month ago. It's my first book and I seem to be battling a
publisher who has a fairly small ambition for it. The publisher,
Scarecrow Press normally does small print runs, sells their books at a
high price, (mainly to libraries) and moves onto the next book.

I am retired from teaching, but from a high school, not a college. So I
am not familiar with the ins and outs of publishing.

I worked eight years on WORDS AT WAR - - that by itself does not
warrant
its receiving any better treatment than other of the publisher's books.
But the critical reaction has been extremely good. If you are so
inclined, you could see the one full review so far.

split into two parts, please put it back together before clicking on it
if you're inclined to do so

My question is, can you suggest what I need to do to reach an academic
audience for this book? I'm doing my best to get it reviewed in academic
publications as well as magazines such as Nation. And I am looking for
venues to do book talks-bookstores, college campuses etc. But when I did
a direct mailing to more than 200 chairs of media/broadcasting
departments in as many colleges around the country, I did not receive
one
order. I would appreciate any suggestions that you might have

Thanks,
