Hi Ken,
In my case, it didn't help a bit, but those were the days of 45mhz TV IFs and
we lived in a deep fringe area. The ONLY TV station was 100 miles away and
it was like watching the yetti in a snow storm. The FCC had a standard
letter which it sent as a reply to any TVI complaints it received from the
area which stated that technically, you weren't supposed to expect to see the
signal at all and there was nothing they could or would do about it.
In addition, it was the top of the sunspot cycle and KPRC in Houston,
operating on channel 2, would complete wipe out the weak channel 3 signal
from the station in Charlotte, NC. When that happened, KPRC was 5-9+++ and a
truly beautiful signal, but you had to go to channel 2 to see it. We lived
in Asheville, NC, BTW.
