[Boatanchors] RCA microphone CX 55B

I picked up an interesting stand microphone at a local hamfest over the =
weekend:

RCA CX55B

It's made out of bakelite and has a red plastic element face plate and =
metal reim ring.

What was this mic used for?
What kind of mic elements did they use?
I also picked up the hand mic version too.
