I definitely did not obtain the 755 VFO and the SM-90
modulator until the day that my General arrived in the
mail. I went home for lunch and the license was
there. I took the "N" from my Mosley callsign desk
holder (Mosley Antennas used to send you a cheap
holder with plastic letters for your call sign) and
when I passed K9LHC in the hall (he was a senior and I
was a sophomore at the time) I handed him the "N".
After school Jim brought over the 755 and SM-90 for me
to use with the Globe Chief 90A that I had gotten used
from him when I got my Novice.
Thus, I definitely did not operate as a Novice using a
VFO back in 1959!

Note, Glen makes it pretty clear it was his Novice
TO GENERAL station.
