[Boatanchors] Mohawk Question

Hi Bill,
You may have an oscillation occurring when the gain is increased. Can you
look at the output of the last IF stage with a scope to see if the amplitude
of the signal abruptly increases, and the modulation gets swamped out? If so
you probably have a by-pass cap that failed.

Subject: [Boatanchors] Mohawk Question
Folks,
The Mohawk I picked up on eBay appears to have a unique problem... too much
sensitivity. If I turn the RF and IF gain all the way, the S-meter pegs and
it appears to overload. I suspected a problem in the AGC/AVC circuit (i.e.
a bad tube holding AVC voltage down). All tubes test OK. I did notice that
it is impossible to zero the S-meter (bad tube or component out of range).
Any ideas before I tear into it?
Thanks.
Bill / K8DXX
