That's a clever way to heat only the screw. I've had success with a heat gun,
iron, or in an oven. The same thing works with epoxies. I've often heated glued
parts to 400 to 500 degrees and they come apart easily. Heat also helps to get
the residual glue off a part, by just lifting it with a sharp knife when hot.
Wear gloves.
