Actually, "ex" = a former, a "has been", something
that has gone before.

"spurt" = a small quantity of liquid released under
pressure.

Therefore, expert = a "has been" drip under pressure.

Believe it or not, that is the "joke" that I use to
introduce my presentation!  I have it written on
overhead projection slides.
