I take almost total exception. I am in business of buying
and selling equipment. When I started in 1997, I was able to
buy stuff locally in Southern California, which is hardware
overdone and sell it to the midwest which is hardware
starved. I did nothing but buy locally and sell through eBay
to those in the midwest who were willing to pay about twice
what I paid for the gear. I did nothing wrong or immoral. I
cheated no one. I provided a service. Those that wanted paid
what the free market (auction) required and those that sold
sold to the best price they could find. Over the next two
years, I found the source drying up and more competition, so
I went to repairing the stuff I bought before I sold it. I
sold it as fully functional and again I had a market niche
and hung for another year or so. Now I cant buy stuff around
southern California low enough to even make that work and
have shifted to reel-to-reel tape decks and again have a
niche. I dried up the local sources and now buy on eBay and
refurbish and sell on eBay..lower margins, but still a
niche..and a lot of fun..
