It is not a "lot" of old-timers who "take" the
grieving widows for a ride. Unfortunately, there are
a few amateurs who think that paying 3 cents on the
dollar and reselling the equipment at full retail is
ethical. I don't!

The people who do this range from fairly newcomers to
a very few old time amateurs, with the "average"
somewhere inbetween.

Unfortunately, I know a few of these types of people.

What every amateur should do is to make an inventory
of his/her equipment and list values. There should
actually be 3 different values listed: A minimum
amount that should be accepted if all else fails, a
maximum amount that the survivors should ask to get
things started, and a "middle" amount which they
should probably get for the equipment.

If there is a friend or relative who is familar with
the value of the equipment and who can be trusted to
liquidate the equipment, then that fact should also be
noted. Also, if there is someone who should be
avoided to accomplish this, that should be noted as
well. I know that I have "friends" who fall into both
categories.

You might also consider donating older equipment to
museums, etc.

Yet, they will be the first to brag to anyone who will
listen, that they just 'took' the widow of a SK for
his entire S-line for $200. These people disgust me.
