Hi Ron,
    Yes, you're right.  The scope's horiz. sweep needs to be proportional to
freq., about the IF's mid-point (455kc or whatever), and the vertical is the
detected signal amplitude.  So you'll see the horiz. axis, e.g. 452-458 kc,
and the "pips" along it as the signals at the various freq.s in between, and
they correspond to the recvd freq. +- 3 kc.
