Please reschedule your after dinner, or after breakfast, siesta to accommodate
your participation in the Sunday February 24Th HCI 20 meter Net. Where we shall
be discussing your greatest moment ever in the radio hobby. If you don't believe
that you have ever had a really great moment, do what the DX hounds do, lie!
(grin) "I have worked 438 countries on my 100 milliwatt QRP home-brew rig using
a liquid cell battery I made in my high school science lab and an antenna I made
from a Maiden Form heavy duty support bra wire frame strapped with duct tape to
my out house brick chimney." Yes, there should be some simply fascinating tales
told about life in the days when things other than humans still went glow in the
dark. Stories of Hallicrafters that would warm the heart of even a cold blooded
Death Valley grid dip Lizard. So heat up those Saturday leftovers, warm up that
Hallicrafters, or other vintage rig with vacuum tubes instead of a Silicon
pimple on a wire, and join us for some classic radio moments to remember.

The pre-Net begins at 12:45 PM EST, (1745 UTC), with the authentic sound of a
S-38 with bad electrolytic humming strains of the Jerry Lee Lewis fifties tune,
"Great Balls Of Fire"! I will be on the air at 12:30 PM EST, (1730 UTC) feeding
the Gerbils caffeine enriched sugar cubes in an effort to get them running
faster on their treadmill which drives the gearbox which spins the generator
that powers my amplifier using a pair of 3-500zs. So feel free to join me early
for this probably illegal minor sporting event and cheer them on.

The Hallicrafters Collectors International Net officially kicks the covers off
the ionosphere cloud blanket exposing the propagation at 1:15 PM EST, (1815
UTC). The frequency is 14.293 Mhz usb +/- for key clicks, mike splatter and the
sizzling sound of Frogzilla pan frying butternut squash he conned out of a first
year college student working in the hydroponics section of the Greenhouse. Get
those HT-41's cooking and hit those clouds with some warm waves and precipitate
some propagation. If nothing else, the precipitation will wet your ground rod
and improve ground wave propagation and maybe roast a few pesky Moles tunneling
in your yard in the process! Hey, it saves you sticking a garden hose down one
of their tunnels, wasting that expensive city water and having to spear the
little suckers with a pitch fork as they stagger out of the flooded tunnels
trying to dial the animal rights people on their tiny cellular phones.

I hope to hear many of you tomorrow for some Hallicrafters history, personal
moments of great radio memories, fun, fellowship and the sharing of information
among our beloved brotherhood of boat anchor brethren.
