You just had to remember to "QBE" before you landed.
QBE means "I am now reeling in my antenna" which had
to be done with the trailing wire antennas that were
used on aircraft for frequencies below 30 MHz.

The amateur radio operator who gave me my Novice exam
was K9BPV who had been a US Navy radio operator. He
always used QBE instead of QRT when finishing up
operating for the night. Of course, unless you knew
him you usually did not have any idea as to what QBE
meant. However, it is definitely on the list of
"approved" Q-Signals for commercial and military
services.

Radiotelegraph was used for long range position reprts
etc. for aircraft going outside the range of VHF back
in the days when a radio operator was carried.
